The S.League is Singapore's first professional football league, kick-started by the nation's withdrawal from the Malaysia Cup in 1994. Two years later in 1996, an eight-team S.League was born. |

Clubs competing in the S.League are also required to participate in the S. League Reserve cum Youth Tournament, also known as the Prime League. Prime League sides also take part in the National Football League FA Cup competition. |

The Singapore Cup has evolved in recent years to become one of the region’s top club knockout competitions. Teams from Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, Brunei Darussalam and Indonesia have all taken part in previous editions of the competition. |

The inaugural League Cup – which was sponsored by SingTel – was launched in February 2007 gave the eight participating S.League not only the chance to parade their new signings ahead of that season, but also gave the clubs a real test to see just how far their pre-season preparations have come.

The AFC Cup is an annual international club competition between club sides under the Asian Football Federation Confederation (AFC). Qualification to the competition is to clubs from AFC-affiliated countries that fall into the AFC's 'developing nations' category as laid out in their 'Vision Asia' document.
