Football is not just about scoring the perfect goal. It is also about connecting with our grassroots and community through the common love of sports, reaching out to charities, fostering closer bonds between different racial groups and building social cohesion on the ground.
CARE United, our community outreach programme launched in 2004, has enriched many lives of the less fortunate through football. The programme is divided into schemes to fund financially disadvantaged kids, provide senior citizens and the handicapped with transportation to stadiums, and develop women’s football.
More youngsters, including girls, now play football at the grassroots level in the various format – 11-a-side matches, mini football, street football, futsal and beach football – all of which the FAS and the S.League has helped promote.
